FlashGet

FlashGet (formerly known as JetCar, from the literal translation of the Chinese phrase 快車) is a freeware download manager for Microsoft Windows. It was originally available in either paid or advert-supported versions, the latter of which included an Internet Explorer BHO and led to some labelling it as spyware.

Features

  • Integration with web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Opera (Internet suite), Netscape, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, SeaMonkey, Avant Browser, Maxthon
  • Can download a sequence of files
  • Download a file from multiple locations
  • Split files to download into sections, and download each section simultaneously.
  • Integrated web crawler
  • Language support
  • Support HTTP, FTP, Microsoft Media Services, RTSP, BitTorrent and since version 1.8.4 eDonkey downloads

  • Manages downloaded files easily

The latest 1.9.6.1073 version has a "FlashGet recommends" column which some find irritating, however there is an option for it to be turned off.
